10 Keeping Up Appearances
Rei strives to always appear effortlessly cool to everyone. And when she takes on various responsibilities for her school's festival (including performing original music for the event), she doesn't have the heart to tell her friends how hard she's worked.
Though during an emotional battle with the Siren Cardian monster, Rei (as Sailor Mars) finally lets out the feelings she's been bottling up inside - but only when the rest of the Senshi (drained of their powers) can't fully witness her reaction. It's sad that even after everything they've been through, Rei still didn't feel comfortable being completely vulnerable in front of her friends.
9 Awkward Mamoru Moment
In the SuperS season, Mamoru has to stay over at Rei's house, due to a fire-related accident at his apartment. During this temporary housing situation, Rei tries to be as hospitable as possible. But such a kind act did get her into one of the most embarrassing of moments.

While getting ready to take a hot bath, Rei begins to daydream about her future life. But just as she opens the door, she finds Mamoru naked, about to take a bath himself! And though this moment is not intentionally Rei's fault, it is still incredibly relatable and hilariously awkward.
8 Failures at Flirting
When Rei begins to set her sights on dating Mamoru, she's determined to get him to notice her. And like many girls her age, she comes up with an elaborate plan to set their romantic wheels in motion. One that involves her falling gracefully into his arms.
Unfortunately, it doesn't work out as well as she hopes, leading her to literally (and metaphorically) fall flat on her face. And though the event does get Mamoru to notice her, this moment was far from the fairy tale Rei was dreaming.
7 Letting Tuxedo Mask Get Between Her and Sailor Moon
Sailor Moon and Sailor Mars both have a romantic attraction to Tuxedo Mask. This fact makes them continuously fight. So much to the point that it begins to interfere with their missions. And since anime Sailor Mars is much more hotheaded than her manga counterpart, she often continues to instigate their rivalry further.

But once Tuxedo Mask and Sailor Moon discover their true identities and destiny, Sailor Mars backs off. She doesn't want to get in the way of their future, proving how much she comes to care for Sailor Moon.
6 Constantly Teasing Usagi
Throughout the original Sailor Moon anime, Rei sometimes crosses the line with her comments towards Usagi. From making remarks about her eating habits, her intellect, and other sensitive topics, Rei often goes a tad too far with her jokes.
Thankfully, these back and forth antics calm down as the series progresses and becomes nothing more than playful teasing between the two (unless Mamoru is involved.) Still, Rei's initial boldness could sometimes cause more drama than it's worth.
5 Making Fun of Sailor Moon's Looks On The Battlefield
There are many moments when Sailor Moon and Sailor Mars get into bullying matches. But perhaps one of the cruelest happens during the first season. In this scene, Sailor Moon and Sailor Mars get into a discussion about who is the prettiest of the Sailor Senshi.

At first, Sailor Moon proclaims that she is due to how cute her nose is. But Sailor Mars gets back at her by saying that the monkeys at the zoo look much better. And though this scene is funny in that snide sort of way, Sailor Mars' remark is the definition of mean.
4 Using Usagi's Mom
In the first season, Usagi finds out about a wedding dress contest. Simultaneously, Rei also becomes interested in the competition and wants to enter. But realizing that she has no sewing skills, she assumes that Usagi's mom, Ikuko, must be great at it because she's a housewife. But when she gets to Usagi's house to ask for help, she quickly realizes that isn't the case.
This scene comes across as one of the meaner things Rei has ever done in the anime. For not only was she going to use Ikuko (when she hasn't been that nice to Usagi), but Rei then makes a nasty remark about Ikuko as she leaves the house.
3 Being Boy Crazy (In The Anime Only)
Teenage girls in pop culture are often thinking a lot about romance. And the original anime adaptation of Rei is no exception to this trope. For much of the first season shows Rei focusing on finding her prince charming, even in the heat of battle.

Readers of the manga love the Rei that doesn't need romance in her life. And though there is an equal amount of fans that admire the more romantic-focused Rei that appears in the anime, some feel like this change made her a completely different character in the worst of ways.
2 That Time She Had The Moon Crescent Wand
In episode 43, Sailor Moon and the Inner Senshi come up with a plan to rescue Tuxedo Mask from the Dark Kingdom. Part of the scheme involves Sailor Mars holding onto Sailor Moon's Moon Crescent Wand for safekeeping from Kunzite. But when Sailor Moon ends up in great danger, she becomes in desperate need of the wand.
The issue here is that Sailor Mars' follows her orders a bit too much to the book - causing the other Senshi to think she hates Sailor Moon. And if she had discussed the plan with the others better, perhaps that bit of drama could have been avoided.
1 She's Got Quite A Temper
In the original anime, Rei is the definition of hotheaded. She's always getting angry very easily and starting fights with anyone who crosses her path. From taking on her elderly grandfather to even a random person on the street, Rei never hides her emotions, especially when she's upset.
And though this quality can be helpful in the heat of battle, it can also get her into an incredible amount of trouble - especially when it comes to her friendships.
