SHELDON. YES, WELL, PITTSBURGH’S PUBLIC SAFETY ANNOUNCED TODAY THAT ALL HANDS WILL BE ON DECK FOR THE CITY’S JULY 4TH FIREWORKS CELEBRATION. THAT’S BECAUSE THEY’RE EXPECTING A MASSIVE CROWD OF AT LEAST 20,000 SPECTATORS. FIREWORKS OVER THE RIVERS. A DISPLAY SEEN FOR MILES ANAYA WELLSPAN. A FAMILY JUST MOVED HERE FROM JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA. THEY LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING PITTSBURGH’S JULY 4TH FIREWORKS SHOW FOR THE FIRST TIME. I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING HOW THEY DO EVERYTHING, ALL OF THE TENTS THAT THEY HAVE IN THE ACTIVITIES AND WHAT THE FIREWORKS DISPLAY LOOKS LIKE OVER THE FOUNTAIN. I THINK THAT’LL BE COOL. A LOT IS HAPPENING THE DAY BEFORE THE FIREWORKS SHOW. VENDORS WHEELING IN FOOD AND SETTING UP THEIR STATIONS. PITTSBURGH’S BUREAU OF PUBLIC SAFETY ANNOUNCED ALL HANDS ON DECK TO MAKE SURE THE EVENT IS RUN SMOOTHLY, AT LEAST FIVE LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES ARE PREPARED FOR AN EXPECTED CROWD OF AT LEAST 20,000. NEW TECHNOLOGY WILL BE USED TO SCAN VISITORS. GENERALLY, WE’RE LOOKING FOR FIREARMS, WEAPONS, ALCOHOL, ANY TYPE OF WEAPONRY, DRUGS, AND CERTAINLY FIREWORKS. PUBLIC SAFETY IS ALSO TEAMING UP WITH COMMUNITY OUTREACH GROUPS TO PREVENT DISRUPTIVE ACTIVITY BY TEENAGERS. WE’RE BRINGING ALL THE DIFFERENT COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS TOGETHER SO THAT WE CAN HELP COUNTERACT ANY TYPE OF VIOLENCE THAT’S GOING ON AND MAKE SURE THAT IT’S A SAFE ENVIRONMENT FOR EVERYBODY. BUT EXTRA POLICE PRESENCE WILL STRETCH BEYOND POINT STATE PARK. MOUNTED PATROLS WILL ALSO FILL SEVERAL AREAS OF THE CITY. ADDITIONAL MOUNTED PATROL UNITS, BOTH DOWNTOWN AND ON THE NORTH SHORE, AS WELL AS IN SOUTH SIDE AND MOUNT WASHINGTON. AND HERE’S ONE FINAL DETAIL THE FIREWORKS IS SCHEDULED TO BEGIN TOMORROW NIGHT AT 935, BUT THE PARK RANGERS SAY THEY WILL SHUT DOWN ENTRANCE INTO THE PARK AT NINE 35 MINUTES BEFORE THE SHOW.
